A lot of building in public goes wrong when the update is written backwards. People start with how they want to be perceived and only later decide what to say. That is how every post starts sounding like positioning.
The fix is simple: lead with what changed. Show the screen, the metric, the failed attempt, the rough comparison, or the choice you made and why.
What usually works better
- One screenshot and one sentence on what changed.
- A short note on the tradeoff you picked.
- A before and after if the change is visual.
- A result line if the update affected usage, speed, or clarity.
You do not need to narrate the mission every time. If the work is strong and the updates are honest, the pattern becomes clear on its own.
